Deiva Marina

The town is characterized by two different centres: the old town, with its Parrish church dating back to 18th Century and its sea-stone mosaic churchyard.
In front of it, the 15th Century-old sighting tower raises to protect the town from pirates raids, together with the round one nearby the sea (nowadays just ruins).

The second part, after the railway bridge, is called the “Marina”, and it is the most tourist part of the town, with its seafront, shops, restaurants and, of course the beach!
Thanks to the railway station and the A12 motorway exit, Deiva Marina is a very good starting point to visit the surrounding area and to discover a “different” Liguria, outside the norms of a simple beach holiday.
 Few minutes by car, and it is possible to reach the Vara valley, with its medieval towns and the biological products; the Fontanabuona valley, with the ancient slate mines;the Lunigiana and the
Magra valley, with the Montemarcello natural reserve, its castles and the ruins of the ancient roman city of Luni, also mentioned by Dante Alighieri in his “Divine Comedy”.
